H2 Media Opps: Target zeroes in on GroupM for media consolidation

Subject: Digital, adtech, martech

Company: Winmo

Opportunity: The big box giant has consolidated media buying and planning duties to WPP’s GroupM. Target actually began working with GroupM last year. According to AdAge, the transition will take approximately three months, during which Target will “handpick talents from across the digital, ad-buying and analytic sectors of GroupM” to form its own team. We will let you know has soon as we hear who is handling the account (this will be similar to a service GroupM already provides other clients such as Chanel).

This media consolidation comes just after Target announced last October that it was reviewing its cross-channel and programmatic buying account (more here). Target has its own private exchange marketplace and was (is?) looking for a partner to do more with the data and technology it already has. We will let you know when we hear more about the outcome of this review, as well.
