Digital, Social Opps Update: Treasury Wine Estates to boost digital, social investments for consu...
Subject: Digital, branding, social media, sponsorship, events
Company: Treasury Wine Estates (TWE), the world's No. 2 winemaker operates about 83 brands, including Beringer, Souverain, Penfolds, Souverain, Chateau St. Jean, Stags' Leap Winery and Wolf Blass.
Update (6/11): As part of a 50% year-over-year consumer led marketing hike this year (more below), TWE’s marketing mix will focus on fewer but more comprehensive campaigns for CMO.com. This isn’t a big surprise, based on our previous reporting, but it’s nice to have the CMO’s confirmation of these plans for pitches ahead. Furthermore, taking advantage of digital and social media as an engagement and advertising opportunity is a top priority.
Therefore, look to secure digital ad revenue for all priority brands, which all already have a social presence. TWE’s spending in digital and social channels is growing at a faster rate than overall marketing spend, now representing more than 10% of total investment, Marton stated. For example, Beringer’s desktop display activity is already much higher this year compared to 2014. During the period, six ads have run on 10 publishers (<1% mobile), compared to no activity in 2014. Publisher categories reporting the most activity since January are large paper, finance and food, led by wsj.com, marketwatch.com and napavalleyregister.com.

North American Expansion. TWE here), as part of its long-term strategy to secure major brand opportunities in North America. Sheridan's success with TWE includes the growth and positioning of branded wines Chateau St. Jean, Etude, and Lyric's recent launch.
Target Markets: More men are drinking wine compared to past years, but increasing brand awareness and trial with affluent 30-and-older women and new to wine 20-something Millennials is key. More younger women are migrating to table wine because of its lower price (less than $10 per bottle) sand health benefits over beer and sugary mixed drinks. Looking long-term, as young women get older and HHI increases, they should be more willing to trade up to premium wine. Table wine sales have been said Jon Fredrikson of wine consultants Gomberg, Fredrikson & Associates.
