Opportunity: Struggles continue for SoCo, which is back on the possible SoCo sale that would allow B-F to focus on its core whiskey business.

However, it’s still at B-F and after a  Therefore, agencies with deep millennial and branding experience should reach out now.  Sure, these latest efforts could just be designed to raise short-term interest ahead of a sale, but SoCo is still worth a shot since an acquisition isn’t a certainty. Also, based on previous acquisition trends, new owners would be highly likely to hire a shop after the acquisition goes through to support the legacy brand. Putting in effort with brand decision makers now could help the account acquisition cause down the road, as well, if a deal did go through.

Sellers – SoCo is in desperate need to modernize the brand and traditional ad support has plummeted, accordingly. As such, decision makers should be most receptive to digital, sponsorship and experiential LDA millennial focused pitches, particularly those that revolve around music and art. An edge should to sellers with high engagement rates among millennial male influencers.

Media Spend: SoCo spent $12.9 million on measured media in 2014, up 25% from 2013. Cable and network TV received almost all of the brand’s ad support in 2014 and 2013. However, SoCo has received no national TV support this year compared to $6.8 million last year, reports.
