DIRECTV'S Advertising VP joins agency soon after CMO adds responsibilities
DIRECTV’s Vice President of Advertising Michael Stefanski has left the satellite service provider after just 10 months on the job.
The 15-year marketing veteran has joined, where he’s managing director and the firm’s fourth management partner. Amalgamated's leadership/managing partner team also includes Chief Creative Officer Eric Silver; Chief Executive Officer Brian Martin; and Chief Strategy Officer Doug Cameron.
Stefanski’s experience includes time on both the client and agency side. Before DIRECTV, the marketer was assistant VP of global brand and marketing at insurer MetLife and he held roles at big New York firms like BBDO and JWT.
Amalgamated's roster includes Ben & Jerry's, Coca Cola's Honest Tea and CarMax, according to The List.

This follows the recent that Paul Guyardo, who led DIRECTV’s U.S. Sales and Marketing organizations, has been promoted to executive VP, chief revenue & marketing officer.
Continuing to report to Mike White, the company's chairman, president and chief executive officer, Guyardo, will now oversee both traditional ad sales and the company’s new addressable and digital platforms.

The El Segundo, Calif.–based company aims to double its Latin America subscribers to more than 16 million and annual revenue to more than $10 billion over the next five years. During the first quarter, DIRECTV added 593,000 Latin America net subscribers, up from the 427,000 who were gained last year.
Overall, the company had a total of 8.46 million subscribers in the region by the end of the quarter, a 36 percent jump from the year earlier.
Meanwhile, DIRECTV added 81,000 subscribers in its U.S. segment, slowing sharply from a year earlier. Total subscribers in the U.S. stood at 19.97 million, at the end of the quarter, up slightly from 19.4 million a year earlier.
During the first quarter, revenue increased 12 percent to $7.05 billion.
