Microsoft appoints former Best Buy exec to head its Consumer Channels Group

Experience: Microsoft has appointed a new corporate vice president of consumer channels group, Jude Buckley. Buckley most recently served as chief commercial officer of Best Buy, a position he resigned in May after only six months. In his new role, Buckley will be responsible for Microsoft’s sales and marketing activities with OEMs, operators and retail partners. This appointment comes just after the announcement that Microsoft plans to layoff 18,000 employees in the next 12 months.
CMO Chris Capossela had been functioning as interim head of the consumer channels group, which was created in 2009. When Buckley takes over the role, he will report to Kevin Turner, chief operating officer.
