Opportunity: Duke Energy has appointed a new chief communications officer: Selim Bingol. Bingol is the former global communications chief for General Motors. He will begin his new role on Jan. 5 and will be responsible for Duke’s communications strategy and services, including media relations, executive communications, brand managements and digital communications. He will fill the vacancy left by Ginny Mackin, who left Duke to join Ingersoll Rand in Sept. 2013. Duke Energy does not currently allocate a large percentage of its media spend to digital, but look for that to change as Bingol takes up his new position at the beginning of 2015.
