ACCOUNT ON THE MOVE: Little Caesars hands creative account to BFG 9000
Privately held Little Caesars, the fourth-largest pizza chain by system-wide pizza sales, has awarded New York-based independent agency is reporting.
, who joined the chain in October, told Ad Age that BFG 9000 was chosen because of its "great strategic insights, and great body of creative that communicates brand messages that get noticed in the crowded ad space.”
Detroit-based Little Caesars has not had a national advertising AOR for several years, choosing to work with various firms for local advertising instead.
In recent years, Little Caesars has become known for its $5 large pizza deals, but it’s most memorable campaign perhaps is its “Pizza! Pizza!” slogan.
Before Little Caesars, Gleich was senior vice president of marketing and media at Golden Corral. Little Caesars also hired as VP of research, development, and innovation in October.
According to The List, Little Caesars hired New York-based independent firm for media duties in February.
Kantar Media reports that Little Caesars increased its media spending by 32.5 percent to $22.4 million last year. However, this is still much less than the top three pizza chains – Pizza Hut, Domino’s and Papa John’s – which all spend more than $100 million annually.
The only other restaurant client listed on BFG 9000’s is P.F. Chang’s. The firm added Dish Network to its roster last year.
The agency, which was only founded two years ago and is known for its quirky humor, just won six Unilever U.S. food brands, according to AdWeek: Ragu, Bertolli, Skippy, Wish-Bone, P.F. Chang's and new Mexican line Caliente.
