Regions Financial promotes SVP to EVP, Corp Marketing Head
Regions Financial Corporation, the 22nd bank in the United States, recently promoted Michele Elrod to executive vice president and head of corporate marketing.
According to, Elrod (pictured left) previously served as SVP of marketing, planning and delivery, where her responsibilities included strategic planning, brand, advertising, media buying, social media and digital strategy.
She joined Birmingham, Ala.-based Regions when it since 1984, most recently as SVP of marketing.

In June, Scott Peters, who joined Regions in 2004 as chief marketing officer, succeeded John Owen as head of Consumer Services. We were unable to confirm whether the CMO position has been filled yet.
Owen is now the new head of Regions Business Lines, responsible for Consumer Services, Consumer Lending, Wealth Management and Business Services.

Regions also announced several organizational changes aimed at driving growth and efficiency across its lines of business and 16 state footprint.
Reporting to Chief Administrative Officer David Edmonds, Keith Herron is now the company's new head of strategic planning & execution. In this new role, Herronn will more rapidly translate the company's strategic priorities into action throughout its markets, focusing on critical priorities like cross-sell, account retention, service quality, performance management and business process improvement.
Herron most recently served as president of Regions' Midsouth Region.
Regions new streamlined geographic structure includes three regions. This will allow it to preserve local presence and authority, while enhancing overall efficiency, according to a statement.
- East, led by Brett Couch and headquartered in Tampa, which includes Florida(excluding the Florida Panhandle), East Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia;
- South, led by John Turner and headquartered in Birmingham, which includes Alabama, South Louisiana, Mississippi and the Florida Panhandle; and
- Mid-America, led by Ronnie Smith and headquartered in Nashville, which includes Middle and West Tennessee, Texas, North Louisiana, Missouri, Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois and Iowa.
With $128 billion in assets, Regions is Alabama’s only Fortune 500 company. Regions operates about 1,700 banking offices and 2,100 ATMs in 16 states. The company recently launched new Visa credit cards for consumer and businesses that coincided with its revamped rewards program.
During the ending June 30, Regions reported that its profit more than tripled as delinquent loans continued to decline.

Regions allocated $22.3 million towards measured media last year, down from $28.5 million 2010. Spending towards cable TV, Spot TV, local radio, national radio, newspapers and search all dropped, while magazine, network TV and network radio all saw increases.
