Opportunity: Weis has signed a deal with InnerWorkings in an effort to enhance its marketing supply chain . InnerWorkings will develop marketing print strategies, POS displays, direct mail campaigns and loyalty programs for the supermarket chain. Additionally, IW will help ensure brand consistency for Weis and expand its supplier network.
Brian Holt, VP of advertising and marketing for Weis said that the company was looking to expand its marketing impact and increase ROI, adding that IW shared the company’s passion for “upholding the 100-year-old brand’s identity.” Therefore, print, radio and digital sellers in the Northeast should look for revenue here in 2016. Focus pitches to Weis on the company’s value, as larger chains are able to undercut the smaller chain from a price perspective.
Media Spend: Kantar Media estimates Weis’ 2014 measured media spend at $3.7 million – up 23% from 2013. Most of this was allocated to print ads (74.9%) and the remainder went to radio ads (24.6%).
