Kimball Office ups VP, Marketing & Sales
Kimball Corporation’s office supplies segment announced plans to realign its leadership in an effort to better serve its customers according to the company
To lead the Jasper, Ind.-based company’s strategic growth objectives, Allen Parker has been promoted to the role of vice president of marketing and sales. He joined Kimball Office in January with more than 23 years of marketing and sales experience in the interiors industry.
“In today’s market, business is operating at a new level, and by realigning the leadership in our marketing, sales and distribution functions, we will be better equipped to serve clients’ needs for greater speed, efficiency and flexibility,” VP and General Manager Jeff Fenwick said in a statement.
The company has also created two new positions to further Kimball Office’s responsiveness to its customers. Drew Andrews and Brian Gerdes were both promoted to the roles of director of sales east, and director of sales west, respectively.
Both positions will oversee profitable growth objectives, strategic accounts and dealer development within their regions. They will focus on enhancing overall sales effectiveness, and Andrews will also assume the role of interim director of government sales.
Kimball Office, a leading provider of workplace furnishings, is a business unit of Kimball International Inc., a corporation that provides a variety of products from its two business segments: Furniture and Electronic Manufacturing Services.
Parker’s responsibilities at Kimball Office
will include leading its overall sales and marketing efforts, and he’ll also assume responsibility for maintaining and expanding its select dealer relationships.
Additionally, Parker is charged with generating brand awareness, commercializing relevant new products and continuing to strengthen relationships within the influential architect and interior designer community.
DailyVista spoke with a Kimball Office representative speaking on background, who said that Parker’s role will be to assist with collaborating and uniting the various functions within the sales and marketing departments.
She said that at this time, several members of the sales and marketing department are in and out of regular meetings to iron out some of the internal communication and to better address how each process will work.
Our source said it’s still too early to discuss Parker’s role in-depth, but that he’d be better prepared in a month or so.
The representative said that Kimball Office has an interactive Web site as well as a blog, a Facebook page, a Twitter account and also produces online videos of its many case studies that are featured on Vimeo.
“They post a lot on there as well,” she said. “Kimball Office is very active as far as online and social media outreach is concerned. It’s about interaction with architects and designers in that community and trying to get them more familiar with the Kimball Office name and brand.”
Our source confirmed that Zionsville, Ind.-based Miller Brooks is the only external agency that Kimball Office currently works with. The firm provides services like public relations, advertising and marketing for the company.
The representative said that Kimball Office will occasionally work with outside partners, but said that it depends on the event or the situation. All strategic partnership opportunities are determined on a case-by-case basis.
“If someone were interested in contacting Kimball about partnerships, the best place would be to start with Miller Brooks since they do handle a majority of their advertising and B-to-B outreach,” she said.
The Nielsen Company reported that Kimball Corporation spent about $200,000 on B-to-B outreach in 2009.
