TV, Digital Opps Update: New Alzheimer's treatment Namzaric to receive ad boost next year

Opportunity: Namzaric is already receiving a fair amount of ad support but its traditional/digital direct response spend will kick into high gear next year, when most of the formulary coverage for the drug begins. As Allergan CEO Brent Saunders has said previously, the company has ” no issue” making DTC investments as long as it sees strong ROI. Also, William Meury, EVP and president of branded pharma at Allergan, said in the Q3 earnings call that Namzaric will account for a higher percentage of the company’s Alzheimer’s business because it’s a better drug than sibling Namenda XR. 

For comparison – Namenda XR has spent $28.5 million on national TV this year but support ended once Namzaric’s campaign launched, according to So, look for Namzaric to take off in 2016 where Namenda left off. An advantage should go to sellers with high engagement rates among guardians, adult children ages 35-64 who act as caregivers of a parent with Alzheimer's. Based on Namenda XR’s display trends, this means health & fitness, news and hobbies & interests sites.
