Campaign Imminent: Bosch Home Appliances hires The Woo as creative AOR

Opportunity: Bosch has engaged The Woo as creative AOR following a review. The agency’s first work will debut in Q1 so sellers should start seeking campaign dollars immediately. An advantage should go to lifestyle and shelter sellers, particularly those with an upscale female lean. Don’t forget about designers and homebuilder engagement, as well. Homeowners are taking advantage of the post-recession climate to take on bigger-ticket remodeling projects, and Bosch wants wants a bigger piece of the pie.

Digital sellers should have an edge given Bosch’s much higher digital ad presence this year compared to 2014. Montoursville, Pa.-based Gregory Welteroth Advertising (GWA) handles media planning and buying, according to The List.

Media Spend: Bosch Home Appliances spent almost $80 million on measured media last year, up from $60 million in 2013, according to Kantar Media. Almost all of last year’s budget supported print, mainly magazine, Sunday magazine and national newspaper buys. 

Digital Breakdown: Since January, 213 standard ads, 41 high impact ads and eight video ads have run on 3,491 publishers (6% mobile), 80% of which were placed programmatically. Most of these appear to support Bosch’s home appliance business.

News publishers make up the bulk of desktop activity, but shopping, business and arts & entertainment are a substantial part of the mix, as well, Moat reports. Top sites include womansday.com, popularmechanics.com, foxnews.com, cottagelife.com, hgtv.com, sears.com, pacworld.com and overstock.com.

Most of Bosch’s mobile activity this year came in January, though some ads ran during the summer and started up again this month. Mobile ads are mainly targeting news sites like forbes.com, cbs.com and nymag.com. Also in January, Bosch Appliances ran sponsored content with Mashable, according to brandtale.com.

Video has run on 47 sites, with almost all of the activity coming this summer. Hgtv.com, cbslocal.com and diynetwork.com were the primary targets.
