Company: Deluxe Corp., one of the largest check printing companies in the US. The St. Paul, Minn.-based company provides personalized services and products to small businesses, consumers and financial institutions.

Also, Deluxe has aggressive plans in 2015 r to further establish itself as a marketing services provider to small businesses, while continuing its path as a strategic partner with about 5,600 financial institutions, according to a statement.

Therefore, direct response TV, online, digital and print dollars will be up year round. Deluxe planned to invest heaviest in the second quarter, skewing towards National Small Business Week in May, but investments should be spread throughout 2015 in support of other marketing efforts. For example, recently launched was “Small Business Revolution,” a documentary and photo series created to boost awareness of the critical role small businesses play in local economies. Based on Deluxe’s display presence this year, technology, media and local paper sellers should have the advantage.

Scope of Work: Fast Horse will assist with special events, content development and media relations, while providing ongoing corporate communications and support. Specifically, the agency will help Deluxe share “Small Business Revolution,” which comprises 100 stores, 12 mini-documentary films and 88 photo essays. 

Brand Awareness Campaign: Last year, Deluxe completed three local waves of integrated TV, online, digital and print campaigns to measure effectiveness for higher campaign spending this year. For example, the first wave was a six-week long brand awareness campaign targeting the the Raleigh, N.C. and Columbus, Ohio markets. The final wave also took place over six-weeks, targeting the same media mix to Chicago, Cleveland, Milwaukee and Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Top publisher categories so far are technology, media, local paper, portal, movies and gaming. The five publishers reporting the most impression activity from Deluxe are ls1tech.com, cnet.com, dltk-holidays.com, oxygen.com and seatlepi.com.

For comparison, over the same period last year, Deluxe only ran standard display with three publishers (33% mobile): cnbc.com, manta.com and swaggrabber.com. Also, finance was Deluxe’s top publisher category last year, but the company has yet to run any display on finance sites in 2015. 

Recently Appointed Decision Maker: Deluxe is accelerating its brand transformation and awareness efforts this year after completing the study and hiring Amanda Brinkman as chief brand and communications officer in January 2014. Before Deluxe, she was VP of branding and creative services at Allianz for almost four years.
