Experience: Since joining Coldwell in 2013, Blankenship had helped reshape its marketing strategy. Last year, he was behind the campaign featuring rockers Motley Crue’s “Home Sweet Home.” Then, in November, the company launched its new Coldwell Banker Real Estate digital platform to better connect buyers, sellers and agents. In 2013, he succeeded Mike Fisher, who was promoted to COO.
Marketing Campaign: “Home Sweet Home” launched with a national TV commercial during the 56th annual Grammy Awards, Jan. 26, 2014. This was the second year in a row that Coldwell launched its national marketing campaign during Grammy season. Following “Home Sweet Home” the “Your Home” ad, featuring the voice of Tom Selleck, debuted during the Academy Awards, March 2.
Media Spend: Coldwell spends $55 million-to-$65 million annually on measured media, skewing towards newspaper, TV, display and search ads, according to Kantar Media. About $10 million went to national TV ads last year, representing 5% spend SOV and 40% digital SOV in the real estate and mortgages category, iSpot.tv reports (see breakdown right).
This was a big increase from the $4 million Coldwell allocated to national TV ads in 2013.
