Digital, Mobile Opps: Amer Sports names chief digital officer

Opportunity: Named Heikki Norta as chief digital officer. He will lead the acceleration of the group’s Connected Devices and Services. Norta joins as Amer steps up its overall digitalization and growth, which are key priorities in its strategic 2020 “glidepath.” Therefore, digital sellers should reach out and agency readers should look for work around new product introductions in the crowded connected devices market.

Media Spend: According to Kantar Media, Amer spent $1.3 million on measured media in 2014. Most of this – 65.4% – of this was allocated to newspapers. The remainder was divided among” spot TV (17.5%), magazines (10.4%) and display (6.7%).

National TV Spend: The only one of Amer’s brands that iSpot.tv has data for is Precor Home Fitness. The brand has spent $3,053 since January and has run one ad on NBC during “Dr. Phil.” This is a drop from the same period 2014, when $317,700 was spent to air one ad on ABC and CBS during “Cash Cab,” “The Doctors,” “ESPN Sports Saturday,” “Jeopardy!” and “Wheel of Fortune.” 

Digital Breakdown: All data is per Moat

Precor: 16 display ads have been run on two publishers (clubindustry.com and competitor.com) since January. For the same period 2014, five display ads were run on three publishers. 

Wilson Sporting Goods: Since January, 64 display ads have been run on 366 publishers (20% mobile). Top ad destinations include: elevenwarriors.com, usta.com, pac-12.com, revolvermag.com and biography.com. For the same period 2014, 25 displays ads were run on 21 publishers (5% mobile).

Arc’teryx: Since January, 31 display ads have been run on 339 publishers (<1% mobile). Top ad destinations include: mountainproject.com, climbing.com, outdoorsmagic.com and backcountry.com. For the same period 2014, 38 display ads on 443 publishers (14% mobile).
