Buffalo Bills, Unyts partner to increase organ donation awareness

The Buffalo Bills and blood and organ procurement organization Unyts have collaborated to engage the western New York community and raise awareness about blood and tissue donation.
Bills Senior Manager of Corporate Sales Josh Feine, who worked to get Unyts on board, told DailyVista that this new co-branded partnership will be a multi-year partnership.
“What they do is extremely important to our community,” he stated. “Their blood, organ and eye tissue donations are staying local in the Western New York community and it’s an important partnership for our organization to show our commitment to the local community.”
The Bills want to encourage fans to donate blood and consider tissue donation, as they are both key components to help our communities survive.
Feine said the organizations will co-host blood drives throughout the year at the Bills’ facility and at various locations in the Western New York area. Press releases, TV, radio, and online advertisements will promote the partnership too, he added.
The campaign marketing will be “multifaceted,” and designed to touch all potential donors, For example, the Bills and Unyts will reach all demographics via social media, radio, internet and television ads, Feine explained.
“We’re doing a ‘Donor of the Month’ recognition program during each Bills home game, where donors will be recognized on the video board, thanking them for their generosity and will receive tickets to the games,” he added.
Feine expressed that the partnership is geared towards raising awareness about the importance of being a donor and the impact it has on other individuals.
“Through our brand and strength in the community, we can help grow their donor base,” he expressed. “So, it’s all about increasing awareness and the importance of being a donor.”
More than 115,000 people in the U.S. need life-saving organ transplants and a new name is added to the national waiting list every approximately every 10 minutes, according to statistics from Donate Life America.
Partnerships like this one with Unyts help keep the NFL organization viable in the community. The Bills also have a partnership with Erie County Medical Center, the Official Healthcare Provider of the Buffalo Bills, as one of the local hospitals that benefit greatly from the collected donations, Feine said.
The marketing outreach for this partnership is being handled in-house by both organizations.
