Keane Inc. names first ever CMO
Keane Inc., a global services firm that specializes in enabling transformation of its clients’ business and IT functions, announced the appointment of John Riley as its first chief marketing officer, according to the San Francisco Business Times
Riley brings an extensive background in global brand building to the San Ramon, Calif.-based company, having previously worked for companies like Gillette Company, Spalding Sports Worldwide, State Street Corporation, Polaroid Corporation, Investors Financial and Malden Mills.
He has received numerous advertising and public relations awards, including a London International Advertising Award, a Telly Award for television and a Bell Ringers Award for crisis management public relations.
Keane provides software solutions that include consulting, technology and outsourcing services that are customized to address clients’ challenges in various industries to enable improvements in business performance.
Riley’s primary goal in his new position will be to help build Keane Inc.
into a globally competitive brand, while also overseeing sales, client management and ramping up future growth.
Company spokesperson Hugh Burnham told DailyVista that Keane has primarily engaged in B-to-C advertising via National Public Radio, as well as in various airports throughout the country.
“I think has John has very ambitious plans. I couldn’t speak for him, but I think he’s ambitious with regard to overhauling the marketing function at Keane, so there will definitely be changes,” he said.
Tara Jantzen, another Keane spokesperson, told DailyVista that the company solely works with New York-based Gutenberg Communications at this point, but that Riley is “always open to hearing things” from potential agency partners.
“With the work he’ll have on his plate, I’m sure he’ll certainly be open to hearing from people,” she said. “I don’t know specifically what the projects are coming up and how fast they’re going to come, but since he arrived, people have been contacting him and I’m sure that will continue.”
According to Nielsen Monitor-Plus, Keane Inc. spent about $300,000 on business-to-business advertising efforts in 2007.
Interested agencies should reach out to Riley immediately, in an effort to put some adequate face time in with the new hire at Keane Inc. Agencies that can contribute both B-to-B and B-to-C expertise might find a good opportunity here.
