Southwest Airlines rewards program parts ways with creative AOR

Opportunity: The domestic airline has decided to part ways with Wunderman, who was the creative AOR for the Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards program after the end of this year.

Additional Insight

Experience: Not much else is known about the split, but a source from Wunderman said that the firm was “proud of the work [it] did launching new products and services over the years and have nothing but positive memories of the time spent with such a smart and innovative client.”

Wunderman had been on the Rapid Rewards account since 2009. It is not clear when the creative review will begin or which agencies might be involved. Check back with DailyVista for information as it becomes available.   

Target Customers: 35-64 year old business professionals are the target market of the Rapid Rewards program.

 Media Spend: In 2013, Southwest spent $209.4 million on measured media, mostly in Q1 and Q4 (roughly Oct. to March). Broadcast (network TV) is Southwest’s biggest spend channel at $125.7 million, with display ads coming in second with $25.5 million.
