Digital Opps: Struggling financial lender CashCall hikes marketing spend

Company: CashCall, headquartered in Orange, CA, is an online financial lender that provides consumer personal loans, small business loans, mortgage home loans and refinance.
Opportunity: Pathmatics reports a spike in its digital display activity, which began in May and has been on the rise since. Since January, the company has spent more than $500,000 on desktop ads alone, after running no digital display last year.
CashCall has been in a lot of hot water lately. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau found that CashCall has been making illegally high interest rates for years, finding that loans made from 2009 to 2013 violated the laws of 16 states.
Negativity around CashCall won't go away anytime soon, so there should be plenty of "feel good" style branding and direct response ad revenue available for some time, if you can stomach profiting from a company like this. It looks like Kovel Fuller is handling media, and we will let you know once we have confirmed any other agency partners.

Desktop and mobile ads were both placed primarily through ad networks with desktop ads placed 94% Google AdX + AdSense and 5% site direct, with top ad destinations including youtube.com, losangeles.cbslocal.com, realtor.com, forbes.com and answers.com (Answers Corporation).
Additionally, 74% of mobile ads were placed through ad networks, while the remainder were placed site direct. Similarly, top mobile ad destinations include losangeles.cbslocal.com, realtor.com, mashable.com and mediafire.com.
