Q3 Media Opps: BIC Stationery looks to new agency for back-to-school campaign

Company: BIC Stationery, the division of BIC Consumer Products that includes writing, correction, marking, coloring & drawing and other stationery products.

Opportunity: Tapped Soleil business.

Earlier this year, BIC also named 

Sellers - look for revenue tied to BTS campaigns from July to early September 2017. Specifically, look for digital dollars targeting mothers shopping for back to school products for their children. Media is out of C-K, as well. Look for programmatic to flow through DesCK, C-K's new trading desk (looks like it's largely relying on DSP MediaMath)

Agency readers - BIC has a number of other products that could use agency assistance in the next year. C-K's appointment consolidated digital, creative and media with one shop, but the company could be looking to shops for project work down-the-line.

Incumbent: Match, which participated in the review. A BIC spokesman said that the company was not unsatisfied with the incumbent agency

New Marketing DM: In September, BIC named Ross Ullman as North American marketing VP to  lead marketing strategy for BIC's suite of products (more here).

National TV Spend: BIC has only run one national TV spot this year and it was for its Soliel razor, according to iSpot.tv.

Digital Breakdown: According to Pathmatics, BIC has run 136 digital ads this year (desktop, mobile & video). Of those, about 20 were dedicated to BIC's stationery products - mostly pencils (No. 2 mechanical pencils and Velocity mechanical pencils). All of these ads, four of which were online videos, were run from the end of July to September (so, BTS). Top destinations include: education.com, yahoo.com, sheknows.com and thesaurus.com.
