Campaign Imminent: H&R Block names digital AOR ahead of tax season

Opportunity: Named Chemistry Communications as digital AOR, which extends an existing relationship. In this role, CC will handle all consumer-facing digital marketing for the company and its website. It will also work with H&R's marketing department to develop and execute marketing strategies.
CC joins roster agencies WPP's Fallon, H&R's creative AOR since 2010. Agency readers, we know that agency shifts are like dominos - when one shifts, it usually means another will as well. This is two shifts in under a year, and Fallon's extended relationship with H&R could make it vulnerable soon. And if not now, then post-tax season 2017.
Sellers - we heard that OMD. H&R's tax season campaigns usually begin in December, so reach out now for last-minute digital revenue. H&B has more than doubled its digital spend this year, so there should be plenty of dollars available as we head into tax season 2017 (see breakdown below).
Digital Breakdown: Per Pathmatics, H&R has spent $21.5 million on total digital spend this year (3.2 billion impressions). Unsurprisingly, this spend was overwhelmingly weighted to Q1. Spend was mainly split between video (52%) and desktop display ads (45%), with only 3% allocated to mobile ads. Just over half of the ads were placed site direct (64%) and the remainder were placed through Advertising.com (23%) and Yahoo! Advertising (4%). Top destinations included finance.yahoo.com (all three channels), youtube.com (video), hulu.com (video), Yahoo.com (desktop/video) and espn.com (all three channels).
For the same period in 2015, total digital spend was $10.3 million ,meaning the company has increased spend 108.7% in 2016.
