Beat’em to the Sale: Tommy Hilfiger, FabFitFun, Lagunitas Lead Opportunities & More

February 15, 2019

From CMO moves to spending shifts and product launches, it can be difficult to keep up with brand changes and the new business opportunities that come with them.

To help, we’ve identified 7 fresh lead opportunities to begin warming up your pipeline. Take a look!

Tommy Hilfiger

Chief Brand Officer Avery Baker will depart in June and Tommy Hilfiger has announced that they will be discontinuing the role altogether. Her responsibilities, which included global marketing, communications, brand strategy, creative direction for product design, global licensing and creative service, will each be split among senior level staff members.

Those staff members have yet to be named but we advise martech and agency readers with fashion experience to begin establishing rapport with the  following senior level team members:

  • Eric Lichtmess, US SVP of Advertising and Integrated Media
  • Jason Grosz, US VP of Advertising & Integrated Media
  • Gabrielle Severiano, Advertising Manager
  • Julia Molnar, Regional Brand Coordinator

FabFitFun

Subscription box company FabFitFun recently secured $80M in a Series A round led by Kleiner Perkins. The brand plans on using the hefty investment to expand and become a content platform.

In November, Arjen Mackaaij was hired as SVP of People and in August, Austin Criden was hired as Director of Corporate Development and Strategy.

The brand has not yet established a top spending period, so sellers should be reaching out throughout the year to secure revenue. FabFitFun typically invests in TV, digital, experiential and social media.

Lead Opportunity 1: Lagunitas

Heineken subsidiary Lagunitas Brewing Co lost CMO Noelle Haley in January and is on the hunt for her replacement. According to the job posting, whoever takes over the role will be responsible for executive brand positioning, communications strategy and programming across all forms of media.

The new hire will receive help with these tasks from Head of Brand Communications Katie Brown, Director of Consumer Marketing Catherine Vignale, Director of Creative services MJ Rocker and Director of Emerging Channels Scott Noble.

The new CMO will likely review agency relationships so agency and martech reader with alcohol experience should begin reaching out to current marketing personnel who can later refer you.

While preparing your pitches, keep in mind that the brand is trying to compete against 7K other craft breweries and is releasing products geared towards the millennial audience.

Lead Opportunity 2: Lime

After several months and multiple management-level marketing-related hires, as of February, the electric scooter company Lime has appointed its first-ever CMO, Duke Stump.

Though the brand has yet to establish a top spending period, the company recently launched a new scooter line specifically for NY. We encourage sellers with startup expertise to begin getting on Stump’s radar now to secure future revenue.

Lime’s target demographic consists highly of urban millennials and Gen-Z. Being a hungry, ROI seeking startup, we’re putting our money on digital and experiential channels. Spend is expected to rise since Lime is hoping to secure $400M in funding to reach a $2B valuation.

Lead Opportunity 3: Sennheiser

As of January, Sennheiser has made several significant employment changes within their professional division that agency and martech readers should keep their eye on. Mark Posgay has been promoted to SVP of Pro Audio Solutions where he will oversee global sales, trade marketing, and customer development. The company also brought on former social media manager of Blush Novelties, Robert James, who is now the Social Media Manager for professional audio.

Among these new shifts, we are predicting agency reviews are just along the horizon. Another trigger for new agency relationships is the slew of new products being released by Sennheiser in the coming months. The focus is here is increased awareness and promotion so B2B sellers should begin reaching out for revenue.

Lead Opportunity 4: Sennheiser

In January, the trash removal service named, Kristy Ferguson it’s first CMO. Her responsibilities include driving local sales, implement advertising and guerrilla marketing initiatives, coach franchise partners to utilize their marketing and sales programs and lead the internal marketing team and vendor partners.

Ferguson will likely review agency relationships meaning agency and martech readers with professional service experience should start reaching out.

Junkluggers has put a heavy focus on local marketing since it has been growing its franchise footprint. This will continue under Ferguson as the company plans to open at least 30 new marketers in 2019.

Because it focuses on local marketing, Junkluggers primarily uses guerrilla tactics, social media, and direct mail. Focus pitches on helping Ferguson with her duties as well as differentiating the brand from competition such as Junk King and College Hunks Hauling Junk.

Lead Opportunity 5: Salata

Salad bar restaurant chain Salata promoted CMO Michelle Bythewood to the position of President, effective February. Winmo’s team has gotten word that a CMO replacement will be in the works, but in the meantime, reach out to Alexandria Atwell who was promoted from Digital Marketing Manager to Marketing Director.

The brand will spend H1 on new initiatives related to the restaurants and the overall brand. The company currently operates in over 80 locations throughout TX, GA, FL, CA, IL and OK and has plans to expand into LA markets this year.

While a top spending period hasn’t been established, we recommend sellers reach out all year to secure revenue. Pitches should focus on digital and social media while keeping in mind the brand’s target audience, millennials.
