List of Agencies in the Omnicom Network

Updated November 2020: No company was immune from the trauma of 2020, even Omnicom. According to reporting from The Drum, the American global media, marketing, and corporate communications holding company slashed its operating profit down 89% to $62.5m and cut 6,100 staff of 70,000 at the beginning of 2020. The worst hit sectors? Events, field marketing and merchandising, and media.

However, one thing the company did right, was act quickly and recover swiftly (an accidental rhyme, but let’s go with it). By canceling leases on over 1 million square feet of office space across the globe, Omnicom generated $500m in annualized savings. Then, they sped up digital transformation initiatives and won two big accounts, Peugeot and Air France.

While the name is as familiar a word for agencies as RFP, the history of holding company is less-discussed.

Today, Omnicom Group Inc. is the second-largest advertising group in the world. It began in 1986, when Allen Rosenshine, Keith Reinhard and John Bernbach co-created the company in a three-way merger of BBDO Worldwide, Doyle Dane Bernbach, and Needham Harper Worldwide. Its branded networks specialize in four disciplines:

1. Advertising
2. Customer relationship management (CRM)
3. Public relations
4. Specialty services (including media planning and buying, digital and interactive marketing, sports and event marketing, field marketing and brand consultancy)

During the late 1990s, Omnicom was on top. At the Cannes International Advertising Festival in 1996, DDB Needham won more awards than any other agency in the world. In 1997, the company was selected as Fortune magazine’s most respected advertising group and ranked by the Wall Street Journal as number one in the advertising industry (in terms of total return to shareholders), staying on top until 2006.

Omniwomen launched in April 2014 to increase the number and influence of female leaders at the company. Today, Omniwomen has more than 10 branches in the US, UK, Canada, France, Germany, China, and the UAE.
